Argentina: Farmers completing last 15% of barley seedings
Argentinas farmers are completing the last 15% of barley seedings (mainly in the south of Buenos Aires province), RMI Analytics said in their late July report.
Conditions remain dry but there is rain in the forecast for the next 7 days which is becoming increasingly critical.
Uruguay and southern Brazil, by comparison, received heavy rains the past two weeks.
RMI Analytics estimate for Argentina remains at 5.4 mln tonnes but crop conditions need to be monitored.
Crop 2022 export licences for Argentinean barley are 50% lower than crop 2021 at this same time, indicating a continued reluctance of farmers to sell barley due to a number of factors (dryness, currency, economy etc).
